Charmed to Meet You


Here is the simplest of DIY jewelry projects. Every time TALLBlonde wears hers, numerous complements are given and questions are asked.  My favorite teller at my bank today said "When I get home tonight I am raiding my daughter's jewel box!"

First, get a short neck chain, traditionally 16-inches in length.

Second, find your old charm bracelets that you no longer wear because they have fallen out of fashion.

Third, clip it to the necklace with the usual bracelet clasp (lobster claw, etc.)

The example above shows two charm bracelets hooked on to a single chain.
EASY !!

While admittedly this is an extreme example, but very RealReal of the savings within fashion shopping through online consignment, savings can be considerable. When you factor many of the items found are NWT it can be Heaven for any Fashionista.  Gentlemen, you can get in on the action as well, how about a Burberry Messenger bag? Always, always, always when getting ready to give over your money, only shop from reputable sources!

In the case of The RealReal as exemplified above, items are inspected for authenticity by their teams of professionals and a condition report is included with each item.  So don't try consigning your knock-offs here. All faked items will not be returned to you and will be destroyed.

Don't limit yourself to clothing if this is too weird for you.  Consignment shopping can include jewelry, handbags, accessories, furniture, house ware items and office furnishings.

Scrounge Garage Sales

Recently TALL Blonde was inspired by a Chanel magazine photo that presented a denim jacket with a string of pearls and a big white camelia brooch at the top button, as if to be worn as a blouse and not outerwear.

 I gathered up every pin I could find in my collection, laid my Target jacket on the floor and began placing pins for the best layout. Pins are easy to find; craft shops, garage sales, antique fairs, thrift shops and of course online in places like Etsy and Ruby Lane. Yoiu can collect pins one by one or in your search look for "lots" and buy several at a time and give your project a running jump.

 You may want to think about curating your brooch collection within a theme, such as flowers, hearts, animals, singular color, rhinestone, enamel, white or yellow metal, etc.

 TALL Blonde plans to add to this collection an cover the front of the jacket as a show piece.

D I Y

Do It Yourself-
Sometimes TALL Blonde wants to make a piece of fashion that is uniquely my own. Here is an example of a necklace that was made for under $20. I found at Michael's craft supply a bracelet length chain modeled after a bicycle chain. Two chains were purchased and one stone pendant with an easy to attach lobster claw. It was only a matter of attaching the ends of the chains on one side. The other end already had easy glide hooks and then using the lobster claw to hang the pendant, which is easy to remove and add another pendant for a different look altogether.

Enough To Hang Myself

TALL Blonde has a son that attended college in Hawaii, so I was there a lot. Each visit I purchased a long strand of pearls (three colors available). Now I have enough to climb down a castle tower and when I wear them, I wear ALL of them wrapped around my neck in varying lengths.  The look is altogether simple and flawless. You can wear anything and boost your image as a Fashionista, except athleisure and flip-flops.
